The crown is ridged just like the top surfaces of the chronograph pushers; it ensures you get a firm grip even with the gloves on and at breakneck speeds. The screws under the day/date lens bring to mind the way cam-covers attach to the top of the engines.

The spirit of racing also manifests itself with the tachymeter along the flange of the dial – in watch terminology – the chapter ring. Tachymeters are an absolute must for races; you can find out your mean speed, using it in conjunction with the chronographs seconds-denoting hand. Start the hand at any given point during the race and stop it after covering either a mile or a kilometre. The number at where the hand stops is what your speed was.

As for the Montre Chronographe Tissot (no, we didn’t forget about it. It’s just that the best plays the last), there are totalizer-s at 12 and 6. The display the total minutes and hours displayed while the slightly larger small-seconds sub-dial at 9 brings fullness to the dial layout. Underneath, there is the automatic, mechanical, chronograph movement Caliber C01.211, which we mentioned earlier for once. It can be seen through the sapphire-crystal (with ARC) case back. This, too, follows an automotive inspiration and is designed like the wheel-rims. The watch secures to the wrist with a thick, lush and luxuriant leather strap with a Tissot folding clasp fitted to the ends. Due to the leather strap, the weight is greatly reduced but for the first few few hours, your arm might feel wrist-heavy.

The built is 316L stainless steel, blanked out from solid bars. This is surgical grade stainless steel. An exhibition case-back lets you view the meticulous motions inside; of the automatic at work. The round skeleton dial offers a second opportunity to view the same, albeit the movement is slightly less visible than from the back. For, there’s a lot more going on in the dial and that requires space. These are the day/night indicator (displayed at 9:00), the dual-time counter (sub-dial at 6:00) and the central bridge with the Stuhrling name written over it.

But oh, talk about the push/pull crown! Not too many watches get their crowns at 12:00; mostly, it’s 3. This is a more refined and matured version of the bullhead design found in some of the sports watches. It’s actually a thing of luxury, as much as the alligator-embossed, genuine, French leather strap. The push-button dual-deployment clasp also bears the same stylish finish as to the design.

The Montre Stührling Original Concorso Dual Time 127A.3315C2 runs on a ST-91011 calibre automatic, mechanical movement with 22-jewels and beating at 21,600 vph. It stores charge worth 60 hours (max) and the Krysterna crystal covering it makes this handsome timepiece rugged and well protected from every aspect.

However, there’s a small problem that some might find it too thick despite its flawlessly rounded edges. But overall, this particular watch can easily be given 4.9 out of 5 points, barely missing a perfect rating due to the so-called thickness issue. Else, in form and stature, in terms of material quality and their use and overall technicality and aesthetics, the Emperor’s Grandeur just can’t be ignored. It carries an excellent combination of sports-like toughness hidden within a luxurious and prestigious look.
